Surgical industry

Surgical instruments are mainly manufactured with stainless steel. The material very hard and resistant to corrosion. All instruments are re-used after a sterilization cycle.  Sterilization process :pre-disinfection, cleaning, reprocessing, and sterilization. To mark surgerical tools, a custom dot peen system c53 v will fit with this requirement, thanks to its hand held vision reader and its custom data management system.

Case history#1: Dot peen application with C53V

Dot peen marking technology enables quick and reliable identification of surgical instruments.
Combined with traceability software, Data matrix reading guarantees tracking of the instrument during sterilization process.

  • Marking system

This marking system is easy to use in hospitals for existing and new instruments.

Data Matrix codes can either be read by a handheld ID reader or by a fixed-mounted ID reader integrated into the equipment. This solution is suitable for all traceability softwares on the market. This process has been used for several years by hospitals in Canada and in Europe.

  • Marking of a Data Matrix code :

A tungsten carbide pin stylus is used for datamatrix dot marking. This system provides a permanent mark on the instrument. Marking does not damage instrument quality in any way. The Datamatrix code registers enough information to ensure the unicity of the instrument.

  • Custom marking machine:

- Versatile clamping equipment and camera control

- Code reading and database administration of instruments
- Specially designed for marking surgical instruments, this machine is easy
to use. An integrated camera assists the operator in the right place on the instrument and then verifies the code quality with an automatic reader after the marking operation.(patent pending)
