Dot peen technology
Dot peen technology: high speed and cost effective marking
- Dot peening is achieved by electromechanically striking a carbide or diamond stylus assembly against the surface of the part to be marked.
This type of marking (text, digits, logo, datamatrix code) is made of a succession of dots. Each dot is created by the impact of the stylus on the surface. The force is given by a controlled current pulse through the solenoid , in order to punch the magnet toward the surface. An efficient spring returns the stylus assembly to the start position, waiting for the next pulse. Frequency can vary depending on the force selected and the speed of X and Y movements. SIC Marking dot peen technology is unique by the fact that the electrical current is measured between each pulse in order to control the impact consistency.
- Main characteristics :
Cost effective solution for permanent marking
No consumables are required
High speed marking (up to 5 characters per second)
All kind of materials, from plastic to hardest steel
Compressed air is not required
Dot peen technology is now a proven technology that has made the SIC Marking group a world leader in industrial marking.
Dot peen technology is widely used in the automotive industry and the aerospace industry. These industries are pioneers with a particular focus on a global quality systems using unique identification of components. Meanwhile, technology has expanded into other areas, such as the metal industry, oil and gas industry, agricultural machinery, electronics, transportation and logistics, construction equipment and many more.
Dot-peen systems are particularly suitable for the permanent marking of metals and plastic parts, regardless of the work environment or surface properties. Dot peen machines are available as individual work stations (column-mounted equipment), or integrated systems in production lines, or portable hand-held units
